Our board certified physicians, Steven L. Simmons, D.O. and Robert Menzies, M.D., have been serving the DFW Metroplex for over a decade and possess extensive knowledge of ultrasound diagnosis and treatment techniques. Southwest Vein and Leg helps hundreds of patients each year treat their varicose veins, spider veins, bulging veins, leg pain, restless leg syndrome and other conditions caused by Venous Reflux.
Robert Menzies, M.D.
Dr. Robert Menzies is a fellowship trained, interventional sports medicine and pain management physician who has been practicing since 2008. Dr. Menzies is triple boarded in pain management, sports medicine and family medicine.
During medical residency, Dr. Menzies was appointed as Chief Resident at John Peter Smith, (JPS), and has been named to the list of “Top Doc” in Fort Worth multiple years. While at John Peter Smith, Dr. Menzies served as the Assistant Director for the Pain Management Fellowship program, was on the faculty of the Sports Medicine Program, and was the Medical Director of the Pain Management Department. During his tenure at JPS, Dr. Menzies assisted in the coverage of TCU athletics, including the 2011 Rose Bowl football team.
Dr. Menzies is a recognized, international lecturer primarily in the field of peripheral nerve rhizotomy techniques and has researched and published multiple articles both in pain management and sports medicine. Dr. Menzies lives in Fort Worth with his wife and enjoys running, biking and attending TCU football games.
Steven L. Simmons, D.O.
Dr. Steve Simmons is a fellowship trained, interventional sports medicine and pain management physician who has been practicing since 2005. Dr. Simmons has obtained multiple board certifications in pain management, sports medicine and family medicine.
Dr. Simmons earned distinguished honors at John Peter Smith Hospital as Intern of the Year and House Staff President. He has been named to Fort Worth’s list of “Top Docs” several times. Dr. Simmons developed and served as program director for the ACGME accredited UT Southwestern PM&R Pain Medicine Fellowship at John Peter Smith and served as faculty for the Sports Medicine Fellowship. He has held faculty positions at Texas A&M University, UNT HSC-TCOM, and UT Southwestern.
Prior to attending medical school, he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 10 years. Dr. Simmons enjoys bike riding, skiing, paintball, and spending time with his wife and son in Fort Worth.
Brad Rutledge, BS, RVT
Brad Rutledge is our clinical director at Southwest Vein & Leg Center, and is always eager to meet and welcome new patients with his friendly demeanor and warm personality. Brad has been a registered vascular technologist for over 12 years and specializes in the field of vascular and phlebology ultrasound. He works very closely with Drs. Simmons and Menzies to create individualized patient treatment plans by developing patient-specific vein mappings and meeting with each patient prior to their consultation. As our clinical director, Brad ensures that our clinical and support staff provide the highest excellence in patient care. On a personal note, Brad enjoys weight lifting, water sports, four wheeling and spending time with his family. Brad has degrees in Human Environmental Sciences and Diagnostic Medical Sonography from the University of Alabama and Virginia College, respectively. Brad also served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.
Autumn is the vein patient coordinator and been apart of our vein team for almost a year. Autumn is usually the first point of contact with our patients and is quick to earn our patients' trust. Autumn went to Weatherford college of business and Tarrant County College for Health Science Studies. Autumn has worked in the medical field at Cook Children's hospital for 2 years and has a lot of experience with excellent patient care.
Autumn lives in Fort Worth and spends her time with her family. They are usually at football practice, games, tournaments or gymnastics with her daughter. She loves anything outdoors or anything to do with sports!
